A Season for Warmth: TCWR’s Heating Up Campaign

As the temperatures drop and winter sets in, providing warmth and comfort for all the animals at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge becomes a priority. Earlier this month, we dedicated a blog article explaining how we provide warmth for our smaller African cats by ensuring they can access a heated building. While this effort is vital, it is still important to highlight that other animals at the Refuge, including lions, tigers, bears, and bobcats, rely on us to keep them warm during winter. Therefore, we are excited to announce our most recent “Heating Up” campaign to help meet the unique needs of all our animals.

Our “Heating Up” campaign was launched to address the growing need for continued upkeep and supplies to warm our animals in winter. With over 100 wild animals to care for, we must be prepared for the challenges of dropping temperatures. This initiative aims to:

We need to maintain our current heating systems. This includes replacing heating bulbs for our big cats and heaters for our smaller cats.

Being financially secure. On average, the Refuge must pay $35,288 a season to provide warmth for all our animals.

Here are ways you can help impact this winter.

The success of our campaign depends on the support of donors like you. By contributing to this initiative, you’re helping us provide warmth and security to the animals who rely so much on us. This campaign is more than just a response to winter – it’s a commitment to the lifelong care these animals deserve.
