As the pumpkins fade, our sights are set on the holiday season – and, most importantly, Giving Tuesday! This global initiative, founded in 2012 by New York City’s 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation, brings together people and organizations worldwide on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to support charitable causes. For Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, Giving Tuesday is an essential time to raise funds for the well-being of our animals and to spread awareness on our mission.
This year, we have a goal to raise $120,000 to provide Bravecto, a crucial tick-prevention medication, for all our animals. Ticks pose a severe health risk, carrying diseases that can affect both domestic and wild animals. As temperatures rise, so do tick populations, making prevention vital to keeping our residents safe.
We’re thrilled to announce that, thanks to the Huck Family’s incredible generosity, we have a $60,000 matching challenge! For every dollar you donate, the Huck Family will match it until we reach $60,000, doubling the impact of your contribution. By giving now, you can help us reach our goal faster and maximize the life-saving care we provide to the animals.
But Giving Tuesday at Turpentine Creek is more than a fundraising day – it’s an event! Throughout the day, as we reach our fundraising milestones, we’ll be giving away fantastic prizes to share our appreciation for your ongoing support. From exclusive behind-the-scenes tours to paw print paintings and big cat call-out vouchers, every donation enters you to win. Here’s how to get involved:
- Donate to our social media campaign and follow the instructions posted there.
- On Giving Tuesday, engage with our posts by liking, sharing, and commenting to help spread awareness.
Each milestone reached brings another opportunity for prizes, so keep an eye on our social media for updates! You can find everything you need, including the donation link and instructions, on our Giving Tuesday webpage.
Our Giving Tuesday celebration will culminate in an evening documentary screening, featuring the story of Robbie, a beloved white tiger who passed away this year due to bobcat fever from a tick bite. The documentary, Robbie’s Legacy, pays tribute to his life and the challenges he faced. Join us for this heartwarming film and a live Q&A session with our dedicated team, sharing insights into our mission and Robbie’s endearing impact.
Help us make this Giving Tuesday unforgettable. Your support will directly impact the lives of the animals at the Refuge and strengthen our mission to protect them. Thank you, and Happy Halloween from all of us at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge!
