On March 21, Turpentine Creek Staff Biologist Katie Anderson will participate in the 2015 Eureka Springs Victorian Classic 10K race. An experienced runner, Katie has participated in two full marathons, nine half marathons, and numerous other running events. But this time it’s different!

Now in its 33rd year, the Victorian Classic is hosted by the Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce. Runners raise money through donations, and this year Katie’s goal is to raise $5,000 from Turpentine Creek followers and fans – and if she hits her goal, she will run the entire race in a tiger costume!

“I enjoy competitive running very much,” Katie says. “I ran at the Rocket City Marathon in Alabama just a couple week ago. I run all the time. And I am happy to do what I can to contribute to Turpentine Creek and the work we do here. I want to raise money so we can build habitats for all of our animals and they can experience the thrill of running as well!”

Katie, who was raised in a military family, attended Georgia Tech in Atlanta and was an intern at TCWR for two years before joining the staff full time early this year.
